A Diffuse Background Suppression (BGS) sensor has both the transmitter and receiver in the same housing. It detects an object by the reflected light while ignoring objects or surfaces behind the set sensing distance. This makes it much more reliable than a standard diffuse sensor, especially when the background is reflective or close to the target.
